The Barbies and Kens have a lot of different jobs in Barbie, including “beach” that help make Barbieland function. Barbie has had over 200 careers since her inception by Mattel and Barbara Handler in 1959, from being an astronaut and a pizza chef to a chicken farmer and cake decorator. Barbie covers quite a few of Barbie’s jobs, but there are dozens more behind the scenes that help keep Barbieland operational. Ken’s even been a dog trainer and a wildlife vet, but in the Barbie movie, he’s just Ken, and like the rest of the Kens, he spends most of his time on the beach.
